Halloween 2022

 

Ah, Halloween.

This is what my house looks like for most of October. A heap of jumbled fabrics and half-sewn costumes. Everything else goes to the wayside as I cobble together 9 costumes. It is the most wonderful time of the year! Haha, this October I started some contract work from home AND Micah had a birthday party with friends, so the chaos was even more pronounced. More, More, MORE!

By Halloween, everything was set! We were ready to catch 'em all! All the candy, that is. Because WE were the Pokémon!

Eevee and I (Meowth, for those unsure) joined with Greninja,Team Rocket, Pikachu and Ash to catch all the treats at the mall.

Looks like Team Rocket is lulling Ash and Pikachu into a false sense of security. Better watch out, Pikachu!

Team Rocket (Jesse and James) are clearly scouting out the mall for some nefarious purpose. People were actually really stoked to see them and they may have gotten extra candy from a fan. Spoiler: they did. 

When it was time to trick or treat in our neighborhood, there was Jesse, luring a hapless Eevee with some candy. It worked. She was totally caught.

Ash and Pikachu were ready to go get 'em!

We live on the funnest street. They got candy AND a little Jurassic World with Owen!

This year our street got into it. We had other families from the neighborhood bring their cars for trunk or treating, some families set up tables and games, other families had snacks and hot cocoa. So fun!

Gengar (the nightmare Pokémon and Eliza's all-time favorite) even put in a appearance. Heh heh heh. 

Henry chose Greninja as his spirit Pokémon. Poor kid hates to be warm and didn't really think the whole "mom works in fleece" thing through. But he looked awesome and was happy with that. 

Sheridan was the fabulous Jesse from Team Rocket. She channeled her villainous side FTW.

Axel Jack was born to play the role of evil James of Team Rocket.

They were just so darned cute together! They would recite their little villain intro and it was spot on.

And, of course, no Team Rocket is complete without their sidekick, Meowth.

Eevee is really the cutest Pokémon! Eliza was so exited to "have a tail bigger than the body!" 

Amelia was stoked to be the dark evolution of Eevee called Umbreon. Here she is, channeling the intense and enigmatic Umbreon.

Of course, no Pokémon-themed family would be complete without Pikachu! Micah would only talk Pikachu for most of the night. It was obnoxiously adorable how he stayed in-character. 

Cole was so excited to play the heroic Pokémon trainer, Ash.  

The two were just so cute together!

Hope your Halloween was happier than a bunch of Pokémon! I know ours was!

Micah Man is Seven!

 Micah man turned seven in October! Of course, we started off the day with some gifts,

He got a really cool remote control snake,

And a crazy-amazing Harry Potter Lego set,

and a super-obnoxious voice changer from his brothers!

Micah loves Wild Kratts and asked for a Wild Kratts cake. 

So, I threw together this cute little Tortuga.

He liked it. :)

He was really excited to have a Wild Kratts birthday party with his friends this year.

They played animal Headbands and animal charades,

They swung like monkeys and ran around the backyard like cheetahs,

And they ate Creature Power cupcakes!

Happy birthday, Micah!

Micah wants to be a farmer when he grows up. His favorite color is, but blue is a close second. Micah is a little wild and crazy. He loves playing imagination games with Eliza from waking to sleeping. Harry Potter is one of his favorite books. He loves animals, video games, Legend of Zelda, dinosaurs, and his favorite animal is a tiger. Micah does not like to do hard things, but he's great when he can do the hard thing with someone at his side. He has a HUGE imagination. We're so grateful for our silly guy!

Eliza is Five-za!

 Our sweet Miss Eliza turned 5 in September! She was counting down the days until her birthday since the spring. 

Ready for gifts!

Eliza LOVES The Princess in Black books. This year she asked for a Bunny Horde cake (from The Princess in Black and the Hungry Bunny Horde). I had enough left over to also make a goat pasture with the ubiquitous entrance to Monster Land. She felt ok about it, ha!

Eliza was exited to receive the newest Princess in Black book, as well a a few other favorites.

We sang happy birthday and lit candles and called it a success....

and the next weekend, she was able to (finally) have a party with friends!

There was an obstacle course to hone those monster-fighting ninja skills...

And then they had some otter pops to cool off.

When Eliza grows up she wants to be an animal vet. Her favorite animal is a cat, and her favorite colors and pink and red (in that order).  She loves her big brother Micah SO MUCH and they play together like they were made for it. Eliza wants to live in New Jersey when she grows up, with lots and lots of pet kitties. Reading is one of her favorite things. Sheridan is another of her favorite things (feels like winning!). Eliza is a really good helper and a great sidekick during the day. We love you SO MUCH sweet girl!
