December 2016

Welcome to the end of 2016!

We're here for it! Setting up the tree...
pulling out ornaments my Nana made (that were on my tree growing up)...
and attending ALL the performances!
Sheridan sang for a cute programs with the 8-11 year old girls at church.
Jack played upright bass with the orchestra
in his Rainbow Dash hat. I admire this kid's commitment to authenticity.

The elementary school had their sing around and Henry played the xylophone.
Sheridan sang while half her class showed off their recorder playing.
And Sheridan performed in...honestly, I have no idea. I think it was Aladdin, Jr. But I'm not positive! Whomp whomp, that'll teach me to try and recap a month that was nearly 5 years ago!
Micah is looking sharp with his festive R2-D2 shirt and fedora. Notice he does not have his oxygen accessory!!!!
We were blessed to have a visit from the 3 Wise Men! It was such a fun way for the bishopric to visit during the holidays.
Henry really wanted to reprise his role as Ebenezer Scrooge, so we threw together A Christmas Carol performance for Grammy and Pop.
Check out the Tiny Tim we found!
We went with Grammy and Pop to the Museum of Natural Curiosity. It is always so fun!!
Christmas Eve dinner means turkey dinner for us. Since we almost always have Thanksgiving dinner with the Martins, it's my chance for turkey dinner leftovers! Plus, we just love it. We were so blessed to have Grammy and Pop join us!
Christmas Eve means time for the Nativity play. Sheridan in particular looks forward to it every year. Probably because she LOVES playing the part of Mary.
Christmas Eve gifts! Whatever could they be?
They are all dressed up and ready to go. To bed.
Wake up wake up for Christmas morning!
It was busy and there were lots of gifts. It was so fun to have Grammy and Pop here!
I snapped one picture of this cute turkey during Christmas Dinner at the Martin's.
A rare movie in the theaters! Moana was excellent, and my Pacific Island-loving heart was so full.
The kids liked it, too.
I love getting unexpected calls from my little brother. I love those calls even more when he's in Salt Lake City for a four hour layover. So grateful to be able to drop everything and spend some time with this crazy kid at a random IHOP in SLC.
I slept off my late night with Learon while Tyler took Grammy and the kids to the BYU Bookstore. They got up close and personal with Cosmo.
The best way to wrap up this whole year was to be able to witness Henry being baptized.
We're so grateful for the faithful example this kiddo sets for us.
Suit up in the armor of God, party people! It's getting crazy out there!

November 2016

November is such a fun month! We get to celebrate our two oldest boys, participate in science fair, and celebrate Thanksgiving.
I never remember to take pictures of Thanksgiving, even though it's my favorite holiday!
Jack turned 12!
In our church, when they boys turn 12 they are ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood, which means they given the authority to serve in a different capacity. Doesn't he look sharp in his new suit?!?
He got spoiled in the morning...
and in the evening!
Happy birthday, our first-born hooligan. We adore you!
Some Sunday family picts after his ordination!
Following is his father's footsteps of service and caring.
We love this goofy kid!

And then, on to everyone's favorite: Science Fair.
Jack experimented to see which solution would make bigger crystals (salt, brown sugar, and white sugar).
Sheridan experimented to see if people preferred a cookie where the dough had matured in the fridge for 24 hours and then baked, or cookies from dough that was baked right after making it.
Spoiler: the matured dough had more complex flavors, and was more preferred by our samplers.

Henry turned 8!
Henry is obsessed with all things Pokémon, but especially Pikachu.
Can you tell?
I even made him a Pikachu cake.
He was ok with that.
Happy Birthday, Henry-boy!

We were able to get to Thanksgiving Point's Museum of Curiosity.
It was warm enough that we got to play outside!
And then it snowed.
Sheridan was determined to make a snowman. So she did.
Amelia made a tiny snowman, too.
And Micah checked out the stability of our drawer.

Henry had the chance to perform in A Christmas Carol as Ebenezer Scrooge.
He adopted a gravely, angry voice and grumpy demeanor.
He slayed!
Seriously, I don't know that I've ever seen a 2nd grade get so much into character!

Henry was also able to have a birthday party!
So many of his friends were able to make it to his dragon party.
There was pin-the-fireball on the dragon
and flaming dragon cake!
(I thought it was such a cute little dragon).
They eventually were too much for the house to contain and ran free outside!
November is crazy times!
