June is the beginning of summer fun! Scout camps, and treks, and my birthday, oh my!
I took my awesome Wolf scouts to Cub Scout Day Camp early in the month. It was also REALLY early in the day. Guys, I don't like mornings. I don't like waking up before 8, and I REALlY don't like waking up before 6. But I did it for these boys. We had an awesome time and played hard. Definitely a 9/10 (sorry, those early early mornings automatically knock of a star).
Eliza helped Jack get ready to attend his Pioneer Trek.
In our church, we feel like we can learn a lot of lessons from what happened to early members of our church. In the 1800s, they were driven from place to place until they were finally driven from Nauvoo, Illinois in the dead of winter. In spring, they loaded up wagons if they could and handcarts if they couldn't (and most couldn't, as they lost almost everything when driven out of Nauvoo). They learned to rely on God. They learned to turn to Him in good and in bad. It's like wilderness camp meets LARP with a heavy dose of the Holy Spirit. It can be spiritually transformative as these youth have to step away from their real parents and do really hard things together.
Jack did not want to go. But he did. And he had an amazing time and learned some really beautiful things.
Seth and Carla were his stand-in parents and he absolutely loved them. And I absolutely loved them for watching out for my boy.
He had a great time with a great group of kids.
Sheridan put together a carnival of fun! There were prizes and games and trivia.
We also embraced morning yoga. It was a great addition to our summer routine.
I celebrated my birthday! Jack took me to a French-Cuban pastry shop and we ate yummy pastries. It was a sweet gift to go on a date with my cute boy.
Getting older does not bother me. Let's party!
My awesome friend hooked me up with my first sheet mask, so I embraced the luchedor look. Fierce!
And my other awesome friends took me back to the pastry shop after hitting up Parade of Homes.
I felt pretty celebrated.
The rest of June was awesomeness.
Sheridan had her last day of braces...
and came out without them looking 3 years older!
We ate lots of Otter Pops on the back porch swing.
Henry participated in making a Cub Scout pop bottle rocket!
And my awesome sister and bff came with 4 of her kids to party in Utah. Sure, they saw other family, too.
We spent a lot of time laughing,
and swimming,
and singing, dancing, and putting on plays.
Ruth and I spent a lot of time talking and laughing and crying and eating delicious food.
It was so good to get Adam back for a week and to get to know the other kiddos even better.
Tyler and I also started training for our half marathon! We set a goal last October to run one, and we started running (lol, that's right, we didn't run before!) in May and really started training in June.
